About the Ground Assault Wing

The Ground Assault Wing of the Virtual 9th Air Force flies the A-10A in LockOn: Flaming Cliffs. We simulate the 23rd Fighter Group from Moody AFB, Georgia. Although the 23rd is a US-based unit, we currently have and welcome non-US members. We typically fly close air support (CAS) missions. This is the type of mission where the Air Force is supporting ground troups nearby. We train often and strive to make our training as realistic as possible.

From the Ground Assault Wing Commander:

Hello all, and welcome to our website. My name is "Cephus" (pronounced see-fus). My flight simulation career started when I was young playing a game I don't even remember the name of.  After that was Red Baron 3D and some time later, Jane's USAF, followed by Microsoft Flight Simulator. I came to the Virtual 9th Air Force at its beginning from the well-respected 44th Virtual Fighter Wing as an A-10A pilot. Since then we've worked hard to build the 9th and the Ground Assault Wing into a professional, organized, and deadly team of pilots.

Here's a preview of what you could expect flying with the Bomber Wing:

Note: We have no official affiliation with the 23rd Fighter Group
